Beautiful sculpture of three members of a family, father and two children, made in wooden log.

Indonesia is perhaps the only country that has the most varied selection of Primitive Art as it is composed of more than 15,000 islands located along the Ecuardor. Inhabited by 500 different ethnic groups who speak more than 560 different languages.

Each island has several forms of cultural expression; from the dancing masks and kris (knife) of Isala Java, wooden sculptures of Sumatra, Sulawesi, Borneo, Timor and Irian Jaya, to textiles from Sumba Island, crockery "Sasak" from the Islands of Lombok, useful for working stone Papuans, their shields and ancient sculptures. Not forgetting the exquisite Balinese carvings as offered here.

Due to the geographical position of Indonesia and its geological age, these islands are the basis of current anthropological studies.
